Well, I was so nervous, before coming to Bali. I did not know how will we settle down, will we get the right place to stay, will we be happy in Bali. I just wanted to run away from Kuala Lumpur, and Bali was my choice. We stayed there for two months, because of Visa problems. Without Visa, you get only two months, Thai people only one month, so my girl had to return to KL for few days and come back to get another month. We flew in with Airasia, great trip, only took us two hours. We came at night and get a cab, always use Blue Bird Taxi's. They are the safest ones. And immediately people were more friendly than in KL. It is just a different mentality toward tourists. In Bali, they see tourists as a walking piles of Euros or Dollars. They will try to sell anything they can. Almost anything. However, it was a blast!!! We really enjoyed our stay. Right away we went to Ubud, small city one hour away from the airport in Kuta. It looked like Vietnam, rice paddies everywhere. So beautiful!!!!! We stayed in a hotel first night and on second day we rented a house. It was an open house with an attached pool. Not bad. However, if you have an open house, it is possible that the mouse or rat will sometime come inside. And of course small geckos are everywhere. So cute, they eat insects, so they are good. And then there are big geckos too. Really big, making strange noises. My girlfriend was really afraid. I am giving you Ubud experience, with cool weather, perfect weather. You don't need air con in your room, only maybe a small fan. It is cooler than in Thailand.
